Miles Vorkosigan and his cousin Ivan are sent as planetary representatives to a Cetagandan funeral. Almost immediately they end up with an artifact and have to figure out, what the artifact is, who owns it, and why they got it. And of course Miles wants to do all the fun detecting himself.
