In a future where identities can be recorded and downloaded into synthetic and natural bodies, the identity of a former trained soldier in storage on a distant planet as punishment for criminal behavior is purchased and loaded into a body on Earth by a superwealthy man who has been alive for 300 years, to investigate who had shot the head off his previous body.
