When a large alien spaceship enters the solar system, an asteroid-mapping ship is sent to investigate. The giant (apparently lifeless) ship, dubbed Rama, is a world unto itself, containing features the humans can only speculate about. When Rama starts coming to life, things start to get very interesting.
